OUR CLUB

Soroptimist International of Rancho Bernardo (SIRB) is a likeminded group of local professional women, all of whom are very active in the Community. The group is committed to improving the lives of women and girls both locally and internationally. We do this through a number of service and community projects.

Victims of Domestic Violence – Transitional Housing

SIRB is proud to partner with SI Poway to provide transitional housing for battered women and children.

The program moves families from dependency and abuse to a safe, self–sustaining lifestyle. To date, we have refurbished and furnished 19 apartments and placed 40 families. During the 18 months they are in the program, the children are enrolled in school, mothers complete their education or vocational training and the family is given a new start on life.

FUNDRAISING

In 2009 we held our 20th annual Gold and Silver Ball, which is our main fundraising event.

Five or six men and women of distinction are honored each year. They are people who are role models in our community, with outstanding achievements in their profession, business or volunteer activities. They have exemplary character, integrity and leadership. See RECOGNITION PAGE for 2009 Honorees

The highlight of the event is the Dessert Dash. Incredible desserts from local chef’s and restaurants are displayed and tables bid for the privileged of choosing the dessert of their choice. It is a fun event and an opportunity for both competition and sharing of a great dish.

SPONSORS are sought for both the 21st Annual Gold and Silver Ball and the Dessert Dash to be held early 2010. Please contact us at wardwrdmc@aol.com
